Kids Programs

Because space is limited and to cut down on the number of no-shows, we are enabling a policy that if you are a no-show and do not notify MFL staff, you will be removed from a future MFL program requiring registration. Please be mindful as many families would like to participate in our free programs!

Toys in the Children's Area will be packed away & hidden a few minutes before story times begin as to get the area ready for literacy.
This month's Kids' and Teens' programs are sponsored by Lima Christian Nursery School.
Story Times with Mr. Jason
All ages are welcome. Registration is required.
Come enjoy Mr. Jason's story time in our children's area! Registration is required as space is limited. Include the total number (adults & kids) that are attending. If you sign up & are a no-show, you will be removed from future MFL programs that require registration.

Mr. Jason's story times will help your kids enjoy reading with fun & interesting story time books, singing our ABC's and seasonal songs. Afterwards, borrow some books, play with toys, socialize with others!

​Stop by the Middletown Free Library and enjoy playing with a variety of our building toys/kits! Bins of LEGO bricks, Duplos, Lincoln Logs, Wooden Blocks, Magna-Tiles, K'NEX, Squigz and a variety of other engineering toys will be in our Community Collab space. Be sure to clean up when you're done, please!

​Come build & race using our Hot Wheels tracks, LEGO Train Tracks, Mario Kart Rainbow Road, Magic Trax, Air Toobz and cars in the hallway upstairs on the unfinished side of the library!

Turtle Dance Music is a charming “turtle-riffic” musical experience that is designed to engage children through songs about love, movement activities, children’s stories, and interactive music technology! The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children, including children on the Autism Spectrum, and a great time for parents and caregivers! Each song in the 30-minute show is accompanied by hands-on, visual, and sensory experiences designed to help kids learn and have fun at the same time.

Miss Brooke’s music class offers a warm and engaging experience for your child, filled with laughter, singing, dancing, and quality bonding time. The class is thoughtfully structured in segments to maintain your child’s interest and excitement.

Come play and stretch! Play based yoga offers the opportunity to grow socially and physically. Introducing yoga can bring so many benefits. Through play and mindful movements, children will be able to grow strong with improved bone strength, balance, flexibility and coordination. Yoga also offers opportunities to pause, slow down, and manage their emotions better. Research shows that yoga in a child's routine can help with hyperactivity, anxiety and focus.

Are you ready to dive into the world of coding? Join us for a three-week Python coding class using Carnegie Mellon University's CS Academy graphics library! This course is perfect for beginners and young programmers (ages 10+) who want to learn Python, create graphics, and build a simple video game.

One-off coding time to work on projects or get help from our coding volunteers. If you know how to code, use the time & space to keep coding on your own, or get some feedback on your programs! If you don't know how to code, you can use Hour of Code activities, Experience CS from Raspberry Pi Foundation, or CMU's CS Academy.

We will use the app Bloxels on tablets or Chromebooks to build our very own video games. From characters to scenes to power-ups, YOU design & make it! And, best of all, we'll play each other's games and give constructive feedback. ​Bring your own device, if you'd like!

Mr. Jason will lead small classes going over the basics of 3D printing. He'll encourage participants to follow the lessons in Tinkercad and design their own 3D objects and print them on our 3D printers.

Only sign up for a Monday or Wednesday, NOT BOTH! Participants are limited to printing 1 (free) object a week.

Need a brain-stimulating activity while the kids are out of school?  Try out a chess match or some of our logic puzzles. Teen volunteers from the High School and Middle School will be there to help explain the rules and play games with the kids. Registration encouraged.

NEW CLASSES are available for Parents with Babies from 2 weeks to 12 months old. Infant Massage and Bonding sessions help even the most nervous first-time parents feel confident about caring for a newborn in no time. Also, they meet other local parents and caregivers, get social support and exchange children's related information.
